Lille forward Jonathan David has reportedly turned down an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, as their frustrations continue in their search for a new star player this summer.
According to a tweet from The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, The Canadian forward has turned down the advances from the Saudi Pro League side who were prepared to offer him €12 million a season to join the Middle Eastern club.
The forward scored 24 goals and provided four assists in just 37 appearances for the French side and has been linked with a move away from the French side for a while.
According to a L’Equipe article from a few months back, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Manchester United were believed to be interested in the Canadian forward but the Saudi side have jumped the cue.
Whether Spurs or maybe Chelsea would renew their interest in the forward remains to be seen, but if Harry Kane departs Spurs, then maybe Ange Postecoglou’s side would enter the race for the forward’s signature.
‘They won’t give up yet’
According to the same tweet from Steinberg, Al-Hilal aren’t ready to give up their pursuit of the Canadian forward. The former Gent forward has scored 52 goals in the French league since his move to Ligue 1.
The 23-year-old forward would be an outstanding addition to the front line at Al-Hilal and after targeting Kylian Mbappe and Victor Osimhen, they could be about to make a move for the Canadian forward.
Whether the forward would be enticed by the move to the Middle East at his young age remains in doubt after he rejected the Saudi side’s first offer.
He would bring a goalscoring instinct, brilliant linkup play, and an outstanding shot that would make him one of the best players in the division as soon as he stepped foot in the Saudi Pro League.
