Aleksander Mitrovic’s move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal is reportedly in doubt after the Middle Eastern side were reportedly unwilling to meet the Cottagers asking price for the Serbian forward.
According to a report from Nizaar Kinsella in the Evening Standard, the Saudi side are not prepared to pay the £50 million fee that Marco Silva’s side are said to be demanding for the forward to make the move out of Europe.
Al-Hilal were preparing to triple the forward’s £120,000 a week salary according to the same report but it now seems that the deal could be about to fall through which would be a huge blow for the Pro League side.
Worryingly for the Saudi side, the same report states that even if the deal to take the Serbian falls through then Mitrovic will seek an exit from the Premier League side this summer regardless.
‘Big European club’
Mitrovic reportedly believes that he is good enough to make the move to a big European side this summer, in what is another blow to the Saudi side following the failed bids for Kylian Mbappe and Victor Osimhen this summer.
Speaking over the weekend, Fulham manager Marco Silva said on the Mitrovic situation said: “It is a process and it is not an easy situation.
“I am not here to talk about the negotiations and clubs that are linked with him. He is with the group. Let’s hope we get him as fit as we can in the next few days.”
The Serbain would have been a superb signing for the Saudi side but they will seemingly have to turn to alternative targets if the deal fails to materialise for the former Newcastle United forward. The frustrations look set to continue for the Saudi side as they struggle to acquire a top-quality striker at a reasonable price this summer.
