Al-Hilal manager Jorge Jesus has been reportedly linked with a potential move to replace Jorge Sampaoli at Flamengo.
Jesus has been under pressure in recent weeks after a couple of disappointing performances and a reported rift with Brazilian superstar Neymar.
The Riyadh giants’ downturn in form started with a frustrating 1-1 draw against Navbahor in their opening game of the AFC Champions League group stages.
Just days later, they suffered the same result but this time against Damac in the Saudi Pro League as they allowed rivals Al-Ittihad to leapfrog them in the standings.
The results along with his reported fallout with Neymar sparked rumours of Jesus’ dismissal but the 69-year-old manager could be offered a lifeline.
According to a report by Brazilian news outlet O Globo, Flamengo have held talks with Jesus and former Brazil head coach Tite to take charge of the Copa Libertadores champions.
The report also added that Flamengo are expected to sack Jorge Sampaoli after a disappointing run of form that saw them fail to win any of their last four games.
They also missed out on the 2023 Copa do Brasil title following their 2-1 defeat on aggregate to Sao Paulo last week.
As a result, Flamengo are looking for a replacement and could opt to bring back Al-Hilal’s Jesus after parting ways for more than three years.
Jesus had managed the Brazilian side between 2019 and 2020, leading them to a FIFA Club World Cup final, where they lost 1-0 to Liverpool.
His impressive record also saw Flamengo win a total of four titles including the Brazilian Serie A, Supercopa do Brasil, and Recopa Sudamericana.
