Real Madrid star Luka Modric could reportedly be heading to Saudi Arabia after spending over ten years in Spain.
After numerous reports of a summer exit, Modric decided to stay in the Spanish capital and sign a one-year contract until the end of the season.
Fabrizio Romano had revealed that the Croatian turned down a huge offer from Saudi Arabia and opted to commit to Real Madrid for another year.
However, with the January transfer window looming on the horizon, it seems Modric could be tempted to make the move after a frustrating start to the campaign.
The 38-year-old hasn’t been a regular starter in recent weeks under Carlo Ancelotti with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde both being ahead in pecking order.
According to Okdiario, Modric has requested club officials to leave in January over fears of missing out on a spot in the Croatian national team for the 2024 Euros.
Having previously offered him a £172 million deal just months ago, Al-Hilal could make another proposal for the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner to make him part of their all-star squad.
The record Asian champions have already signed Neymar, Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinković-Savić, Malcom of Brazil, Rúben Neves, Morocco’s Yassine Bounou, and Aleksandar Mitrovic from Fulham.
They have also had a good start to their Saudi Pro League season and currently lead the standings going into the October international break with 23 points after nine games.
